The former Liverpool manager admits a return to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024, indicated that a future comeback remains something that could happen. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful near-decade reign which brought continental glory and the Reds’ first league title in 30 years, now holds roles overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.

Fan Sentiment and His Frank Comments

They secured the Premier League in the previous campaign, yet numerous supporters who adore the manager would welcome the idea that he may eventually return. In a wide-ranging interview, he explained to the podcast host: “I stated I won't manage another team on English soil. Therefore should it be the Reds...yes. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“Being 58, which suggests I might decide down the line, I don’t know. Is a decision required immediately? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on the specific conditions would have to unfold to bring him back to the dugout, he confessed he isn't eager for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he stated. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing during downpours for lengthy sessions; I'm glad to skip press conferences multiple times weekly or doing numerous chats each week.

“The locker room isn't missed per se, but sitting in a restaurant with the team enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games thus frequently great spirits around the place. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears for example.”

Praise for His Successor

Klopp was full of praise of the current boss, crediting him due to the changes which secured the championship last term. They've been defeated a string of losses in all competitions following significant transfers, but he rubbished the idea of it representing a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward like Florian Wirtz, critics will regret with negative comments. An outstanding player. Ekitike, incredible player. They have a strong balanced team. You don’t have to worry about Liverpool, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of Jota, a 2020 acquisition during his tenure, and its impact at the club. Jota lost his life in a vehicle collision with his brother recently.

“Who can fill the void of a person like him? It’s not about his on-field talent, it's his character. It's hard to picture the squad absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly about it. A devastating blow for the entire squad too. Nobody at Liverpool would cite it to justify results but it is the situation. Being in that space where his spirit remains. Coping with it on a personal level is not easy. Overwhelming.”
