Iran Claims Attack on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.

Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is not yet known and the United States has yet to issue a statement.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

Additional Developments

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

It said debris landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
