Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients

Legal authorities report that a former physician has been charged with carrying out assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.

Details of the Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Investigation

These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents said the forty-five charges include:

• Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
• Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
• 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
• Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
• 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
