Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for questions to be raised about his future after another heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the club's worst run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a tough night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got significant support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and earn three points of course but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I sense the trust. But I've not talked to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period of this nature with outcomes so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to the top, prove once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
